Seen as the leader of American superyacht builders, Westport was founded in 1964. Originally a manufacturer of commercial ships for fishing fleets, Westport shipyard launched its first commercial ship a year later. Since then, Westport has built and launched a broad range of ships, varying from commercial fishing boats and fast passenger ferries to luxurious motor yachts. The yard pioneered the use of composite materials in yacht construction and is renowned for being among the first to offer series composite motor yachts. All Westport yachts are designed, engineered and built by hand in the US, setting this yard in a league of its own.
